Where Creativity Finds A Voice

Arts Alive is part of a performing and visual arts educational programming series at The Ohio Theatre.

Founded in 2012, Arts Alive fosters an encouraging atmosphere of creativity, learning and fun! Each summer camp and other Arts Alive programming is designed to help draw out the natural gifts and talents of children to help them create something magical, professional and fun! 

The Arts Alive Program will continue to grow and expand, so be sure to check back often to see the new classes, camps and other programming added through this educational series.

We are excited to announce our Arts Alive 2024 Day Camp Summer Series! 

This summer we are offering seven different camps including five Drama Camps and two Art Camps for a wide age range of students.


Sign-ups will be on a first come/first served basis, so be sure to get registered right away! When registration is full then campers will be placed on a waiting list. If there are enough extra campers, then we will consider adding additional camps.

Arts Alive “Improv Camp” is a brand new camp for students between the ages of 13-18 or going into 8th-12th grades. Learning how to improv is an important skill in acting. We never know what is going to happen on the stage during a live show. As actors, we need to be ready for anything! During this fun camp we will be learning the basics of improv through many different activities, games and teaching designed to help stretch the imagination and spark spontaneity and creativity. Learning the art of improv can ultimately help lead to hilarious, one-of-a-kind, unforgettable

performances. Campers will have the opportunity be a part of the showcase at the end of camp in a very unique and fun way!***

Arts Alive “Puppet Camp” is an exciting camp designed for students wanting to learn more about being a puppeteer. It is designed for creative kids between the ages of 8-12 or going into 3rd-7th grades. (If older students are interested and space is available exceptions could be made.) Campers will have the opportunity to learn the “how to’s” of working with professional puppets as well as making their own puppets, creating characters, voices and writing scripts that will be a part of the showcase at the end of camp.***

Arts Alive “Create A Story” Drama Camp is a performing arts day camp for creative kids between the ages of

9-12 or going into 4th-7th grades. During the week kids will learn basic performing skills in drama, music, staging, movement and what it takes to put on a show. 

They will work together to help write, create and produce their own short musical, which will be performed as part of a showcase at the end of camp.***

Arts Alive “Imagination Station” Drama Camp is a performing arts day camp for creative kids between 

the ages of 5-8 or going into K-3rd grades. During this shorter camp kids will learn basic performing skills in drama, staging, movement, creating

characters and the importance of using your imagination. They will have fun getting to play drama games and will have the opportunity to perform in the showcase at the end of the camp.***

Arts Alive “Create A Story Plus” Drama Camp is a performing arts day camp for students between the ages of 13-18 or going into 8th-12th grades. During this camp the students will learn skills in drama, music, staging and movement. They will work together to write, create and produce their own musical, which will be performed as part of the showcase at the end of


***This year for the first time, we will be doing a very special Showcase which will combine ALL of the Arts Alive Drama AND Art Camps!

The Showcase will be on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 at 7:00

Meet the Arts Alive Drama Camp Instructors

​Sally Hollenbach is the creator and founder of the Arts Alive program which began in 2012. Sally has been a professional singer, songwriter, recording artist and musical theatre performer for over 30 years. She toured nationally over 15 years with Grant & Sally, Ministries, Inc. and two years with Re-Creation USA. She has been a songwriter for Songs for the Planet in Nashville, TN, recorded 14 Albums and featured in countless musicals & plays. She has been a part of every Mohican Community Show whether acting onstage or behind the scenes as the Musical & Technical Director or Directing the show. Sally has a passion for the theatre and helping to give educational and performing opportunities to the next generation. She has a BA in Voice & Music Theory from Ashland University and is The Ohio Theatre Director. 

Traci Cooper is a long time supporter of the Arts in our community. She is a 6th grade ELA, writing and Social Studies teacher in the Loudonville-Perrysville School District. She was a part of Loudonville Players for many years and was also instrumental in helping to create Mohican Community Theatre back in 2015. She has directed plays and musicals at the high school for many years and is also one of the directors in Mohican Community Theatre. Just as comfortable on stage as she is off, Traci has entertained audiences for years through countless shows. She has been the head of the Drama Station at the Arts Alive Drama Camp for the past 6 years and loves being able to pass on knowledge to the next generation of budding actors and actresses.

Cameron MacQueen has been dreaming of becoming a puppeteer ever since he got to visit the set of Sesame Street when he was just 8 years old. He has a knowledge and passion for puppets that is contagious and he loves being able to pass that on. He has created his own line of puppet characters which continues to expand and is incredibly talented at doing all of their different voices. Cameron recently was a part of the team that build the Audrey 2 Puppets for Mohican Community Theatre's show, "Little Shop of Horrors" as well as creating Sister Mary Annette for "Nunsense" 

We are excited to have Cameron as a part of our Arts Alive Team for Puppet Camp!

Emily Roblin has been putting on theatrical productions for as long as she can remember. In her early years, she wrote and performed plays and musicals with her brothers in their basement. Since then, she has performed in several high school, college, and community productions. Emily graduated from Ashland University in 2021 with a BS of Education in Mathematics and minors in Music and Theatre. With MCT, Emily has made appearances in "All Together Now", "Shrek", and "Beauty and the Beast". Emily teaches 8th grade math at Loudonville High School, and she directed both the fall play and spring musical this past school year. She is very excited to be joining the Arts Alive team this summer!

Have you ever dreamed of creating artistic masterpieces? Do you enjoy painting? Drawing? Coloring? Creating? Then Arts Alive Art Camp is for YOU! If you’re between the ages of 9-18 or are going into 4th-12th grades and want to be a part of this very special event, then get registered for Arts Alive 2024 Art Camp today!​

During the week kids will learn basic elements and principles of design, perspective, color mixing, painting techniques and medium and much more. Students will get to create their own masterpiece which will be displayed a special Artist's Showcase Event for family and friends at the end of the week. Along with our regular Art Camp, this year we will also be offering an Advanced Art Camp as an option for select students.

Meet Our Instructor

Our Arts Alive Art Camp instructor, Lara Spreng, has been drawing ever since she can remember. She has studied oil and acrylic painting, drawing, design, ceramics, and photography at both the high school and collegiate level. Locally, she taught acrylic painting for 3 years in Loudonville’s Arts in Action after school program, painted the windows at the library for multiple summer reading programs, created numerous painting projects in the local schools, and has been a part of the Arts Alive Programming for the past 8 years. Most recently, Lara created an after school art club for the LP Jr High and painted the sets and props for MCT’s musical "Annie", "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown", "Nunsense", "Shrek the Musical" & "Little Shop of Horrors."
